I have just had the honor of communicating
to His R. Highness the Duke of Gloucester your letter of
the 7^th wherein you express a wish of presenting to H.R.H.
a copy of the journal of the operations of the Corps under
your command during the American War — His R.H.
commands me to assure you that he accepts with
great pleasure the Copy you offer him, & return
you many thanks for it. H.R.H. orders me to
add likewise that he very sorry he missed seeing
you at Weymouth as he would have been
very happy to have had some conversation with
you
